Recent Storm Raise Lake Shasta’s Level To 48 Feet From Crest Of The Dam

The first day of Spring is just a few days away and we’ve had a couple of nice days, and a chance to dry out, but don’t let the early Spring weather fool you, more rain is on the way this weekend and next week. Shasta Lake is just 48 feet from the crest of the dam and has come up another 2 feet in the last 24 hours. It has come up more than 100 feet just since December 1st, and next weeks storms could bring it up another 15 feet, according to forecasts. In Oroville several roads are scheduled to be closed Friday as releases increase from Lake Oroville. The spillway was opened last week for the first time since it’s breakup in 2017. According to the National Weather Service, there is currently no flooding on the Sacramento River, and no more is forecast. On Thursday at the Woodson Bridge the river had risen to 173 feet. Flood stage is at 184 feet. The Flood Warning has been canceled, but you are urged to use caution on and around the river as levels are still running high.
