Corning Police Seek Man Wanted In Humboldt County After High Speed Chase

A Fortuna man is being sought by the Corning Police Department after a chase early Tuesday morning. An officer saw a man sleeping in the driver’s seat of a car parked off of South Street and approached him. The man refused to provide identification, saying that he was in the area to visit his son and that the car was registered to him. The officer left him alone and called dispatch to run the license plate number. It came back to 52-year-old Scott Huber, who has felony warrants from Humboldt County for violating his domestic violence probation and resisting arrest. The officer turned around to contact Huber and saw him driving away. He attempted to pull him over but Huber apparently failed to yield and reached speeds of more than 100 miles an hour before the officer lost sight of the car on Highway 99W at Gyle Road.
