State Suspends Bryan Caples Teaching Credentials Ahead Of Possible Appointment As Superintendent Of Gateway School District

Bryan Caples, who ran unsuccessfully last year for Shasta County Superintendent of Schools, has had his teaching credentials and administrative services credentials suspended by the state. This is according to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, although the specific reasons for the suspensions are unclear. The commission’s website refers to the California Education Code, which says a suspension can be done for immoral or unprofessional conduct or for persistent defiance of laws regulating the duties of persons serving in the public school system. Rumors have persisted that Caples was being considered for the Superintendent position at Gateway Unified School District. The district board fired their Superintendent in December and an agenda item for a meeting Wednesday includes the appointment of a new Superintendent during a closed session. Caples’ suspension will end on February 13th.
