A public works wish list of sorts was approved by the Redding City Council Tuesday night. A state mandated annual update was given to the council by Public Works Director Chuck Auckland in which he outlined the city’s priorities on capital improvement projects for the next five years. If approved, the city will be seeing six fire station updates, three new stations, and updates to the airport, including a new runway and improvements to the terminal. Also on the list are lots of roadway projects including a roundabout at the intersection of Victor, Rancho and Churn Creek Roads, and lots of bridge improvements throughout the city. Auckland also gave the council an update on the current water situation, which has improved dramatically over the last few weeks. Redding’s supply has historically been maintained well over it’s demand. Auckland says the department wants to increase the number of wells drawing from aquifers on the east side of town to help fill in the difference. All the projects on the list are subject to funding and may or may not ever come to fruition.
