APD: Wanted Stockton Man Crashes Stolen Car After Pursuit

It was certainly Friday the 13th for a man arrested in Anderson. APD Officers were at the Walmart at 3:50PM Friday afternoon when a car went by that they knew was stolen. They went after it but the driver sped away. Because the weather was bad and a lot of pedestrians were around, the pursuit was terminated, but a few minutes later there were reports of a crash with the driver fleeing on foot. When officers got there they found the same car overturned down a steep embankment. Witnesses said the driver ran toward a nearby home and pointed out his wallet next to the overturned car. The ID inside was for 35-year-old Kenith Dovonn Thomas of Stockton. As officers combed the area, the woman who lives in the house the suspect had ran toward arrived home. As soon as she went inside she knew someone was there and alerted police, who started surrounding the home, then saw a man running toward Interstate Five. He climbed a fence and tried to hide in tall grass before surrendering. It was, in fact, Kenith Thomas, who’s on parole for burglary and had a felony warrant. He faces a number of fresh felony charges.
