Inmate Crew Helps RPD Cleanup Trash Left Under The Cypress Bridge

After a homeless outreach by the Redding Police Crisis Intervention Response Team on Tuesday, officers returned to one of the same areas Thursday morning to clean up some of the mess left by those same homeless people. The attempt to get some of the homeless off the street earlier this week failed, as none of them accepted offers of services. On Thursday RPD Community Work Program Officers got help from convicts with the Shasta County Sheriff’s Alternative Custody Program in cleaning up under the west end of the Cypress Bridge along Park Marina Drive. A dump trailer was packed with trash, furniture and purloined shopping carts. An illegal warming fire was also extinguished.
