Crews Gain More Containment On Large Siskiyou County Wildfires

Damage assessment continues on the enormous McKinney Fire in Siskiyou County, which has burned 60,389 acres, but is coming under increasing control with 55% containment. The total number of destroyed structures counted so far is 185, including at least 87 homes. 4 people have been killed by the fire and much of the Community of Klamath River was destroyed. Over the weekend some evacuation orders were downgraded to warnings. With a red flag warning in effect and strong winds expected, fire crews are on high alert.

The Yeti Fire burning in the Seiad Valley of Siskiyou County is 78% contained at 7,886 acres after the northern perimeter has backed down to the Klamath River, and mop up is underway on the south edge.

The Alex Fire has not moved beyond 151 acres and is 80% contained. Highway 96 remains closed in the fire zone.
