Former Wrestling Coach Found Guilty Of Having Sex With High School Students

The 29-year-old former head wrestling coach for Central Valley High School has been found guilty of multiple sex crimes with 5 different underage students as young as 14. Stephen Reed was arrested in February of 2020 for sexual assault and other unlawful sexual conduct related charges. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office started investigating after learning that Reed may have been having sex with female students for up to two years at the high school campus in Shasta Lake City. When detectives questioned Reed he admitted to the allegations. As the investigation progressed, Reed’s charges grew to 20 separate counts involving 5 victims. A jury returned guilty verdicts on all charges Wednesday. Sentencing is September 2nd. Reed faces up to 19 years in state prison and must register as a sex offender for life.
