Sheriff’s Office Will Close Floor At The Jail Due To Staffing Shortage

A floor of the Shasta County Jail will be closed, and inmates will need to be released. The sheriff’s office says their staffing shortage is at crisis level, forcing them to downsize the operations. A lucrative bonus offer has failed to bring in the necessary hires to safely run the jail. Around 80 inmates will be moved out of the jail in the next few weeks. Most of them will be sent home with ankle monitors.
