Investigators Say 32 Acre Fire Near Tierra Oaks Golf Course Was Sparked In Illegal Homeless Camp

A vegetation fire at the northern edge of Redding was prevented from reaching any structures, despite a lot of homes in the area. The blaze was sparked at around 12:30PM Friday afternoon off Old Oregon Trail near La Crescenta Drive and Tierra Heights Road at the Tierra Oaks Golf Course. A full Cal-Fire wildland response and air attack was called along with all the appropriate Redding Fire Department resources. There were some road closures but no evacuations and no structural damage. The fire was eventually contained at 32 acres. Redding Fire Investigators say the source was an illegal homeless camp, though the specific cause is not known.
