29-Year-Old Man Arrested For Arson After Allegedly Sparking 4 Fires

A man was arrested after allegedly starting four arson fires Thursday morning in West Redding. Redding Fire Department responded at 5:25AM to a reported vegetation fire in a 22 acre greenbelt north of Placer Street near Airpark Drive across the street from the Dog Park. Arriving firefighters found it was actually four separate fires burning under some power lines. Forward progress was stopped at around 5:45AM and the fires were contained at a total of about one acre. The fires were determined to be intentional started by incendiary devices. A man seen in the area fled as investigators tried to contact him. Redding Police assisted in a search of the surrounding neighborhood and eventually 29-year-old Henry Grant Gensaw Jr was captured. He was booked into jail on 6 counts of arson, 4 of them for Thursday’s fires and 2 more for recent fires in the same area.
