RPD Releases Crime Statistics For 2021

A comprehensive analysis of violent crime statistics has been released by Redding Police, showing things are maybe not as bad as many people seem to think. There were 536 violent crime incidents in Redding last year among a population of around 94,000. There have been 14 years that violent crime was worse, including 600 incidents in 1988 when the population was only 57,000. The highest number ever recorded was 793 in 2010. These are violent crimes as defines by the FBI, not the California definitions that have been adjusted for sentence reduction. There were just 3 homicides reported last year. There were also 70 reported rapes. There were 70 robberies, down from 94 in 2020. Aggravated assaults rose from 347 to 393. A more complete look at the numbers is linked to the KQMS Facebook Page
