City Council Votes To Reallocate Funding From South City Park Fund To Update Riverfront Plan

The Redding City Council will spend $1.25 Million Dollars to update the Riverfront Specific Plan, with money coming out of funds that were to be allocated to broadband service, and a re-vamping of the South City Park. The council voted to hire a consultant to look at the plan, which hasn’t been updated since 1992. This all stems from the proposal that was made several months ago by a group which wanted to drastically change the riverfront area. The area includes the Rodeo Grounds, the Civic Auditorium, Turtle Bay, and Park Marina Drive. The plan was approved by a four to one vote.
