Supervisors Vote In Favor Of Plans To Relocate Win River Casino

The Shasta County Board of Supervisors has changed the county’s official position concerning the relocation of Win River Casino. Redding Rancheria has been working on a plan to build a much larger casino, hotel and entertainment complex on a piece of land they bought from the city between Interstate 5 and the Sacramento River just south of Bonneyview. The Bureau of Indian affairs will make the final decision and would hold the land in trust for the tribe. Both the Redding City Council and the Shasta County Board of Supervisors had stated their opposition to the project in 2019. On Tuesday the board discuss the pros and cons of the project and decided to give it their support by a 3 to 2 vote. Les Baugh and Mary Rickert opposed the move.
