Update: Train Traffic Moving Again After Fire Destroys Trestle South Of Chico

Union Pacific construction crews have already repaired a trestle south of Chico that burned Wednesday night. Train traffic that had been halted is expected to be moving through again Friday morning. The bridge near Comanche Creek and Estes Road became fully engulfed in fire Wednesday night. The gap covered by the 30 foot span was filled in with dirt and the tracks were replaced Thursday. The fire is believed to have been caused by a warming fire in a homeless camp.
