Deputies Say House Cleaner Forced At Gunpoint To Drive Suspect To Oregon

A woman in Siskiyou County apparently outwitted a kidnapper. The victim had been hired to clean a house on Bailey Hill Road in Hornbrook. She was there cleaning on Tuesday when a masked intruder armed with a handgun came into the house and started stealing things. She said he then forced her into her car at gunpoint and demanded that she drive him to Oregon. On their way out they came to a locked gate and she took the opportunity to take the keys and run away through the woods. She said when she looked back she saw the man running back to the house. She ran to Interstate 5 and flagged down a driver who took her to the agriculture inspection station. The sheriff’s department sent a SWAT team to the house but the gunman was not found.
