Coroner ID’s 3 Young Victims Of Fatal Crash On I-5

The names of the three people who died in a crash on Interstate Five a little south of Cottonwood early Sunday morning have been made public by the Tehama County Coroner’s Office. At 1:45AM, a 2018 Kia was southbound when it went onto the shoulder of the freeway and smashed into the rear of a parked tractor-trailer rig. The driver of the Kia, 16-year-old August Spangle of Red Bluff, was killed along with two passengers, 15-year-old Autumn Craytor of Red Bluff and 20-year-old Jordan Verdugo of Cottonwood. A 21-year-old Red Bluff woman suffered major injuries. The trucker, 47-year-old Rodney Hill of Elk Grove, was not injured. The CHP investigation continues. They had said there was no preliminary indication of alcohol being a factor.
