Bomb Technicians Detonate Old Explosives In Round Mountain

Some explosives were detonated by bomb technicians in the Round Mountain area Monday. The old explosives were discovered in a barn near Highway 299. Shasta County Sheriff’s personnel got help from a Redding Police bomb tech and the Butte County Sheriff’s Office because of the unstable nature of the materials. They were detonated in four controlled explosions. Because the location was so close to the highway, traffic was stopped during the operation.
