Bakersfield Man Arrested At Good News Rescue Mission

A man who said bears were after him was arrested inside the “Victory House” women’s program housing facility at Good News Rescue Mission. At 2:30PM Saturday afternoon Redding Police were called to the mission. The women and children were sheltering in place after they heard a man yelling that bears were chasing him, and then heard him smashing open a glass door and coming inside. When officers got there they found 38-year-old Robert Irvin Treat of Bakersfield. He said he was hiding from bears, and apparently had already broken into a rescue mission building next door. He was arrested for burglary and aggravated trespass.
