Highway 99 between Red Bluff and Chico has always been a dangerous stretch of road. Cal-Trans is planning to make one particularly dangerous intersection safer. A three-way roundabout is planned for the spot where South Avenue from Corning joins the highway at the Cal-Fire Helitack Station. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2024. Cal-Trans is seeking comments and public input about the project and they’re going to hold a virtual public meeting next Thursday evening from 6PM to 7PM. There’s a link on the KQMS Facebook page.
