Motorcylist Arrested After Crashing During Pursuit In Corning

A man on a motorcycle led Corning Police on a high speed chase until he crashed and was bit by a K9. Monday afternoon a Corning Police Officer on County Road 99 West near South Avenue noticed a Yahama with no license plate. He tried to pull the bike over but the rider sped up to around 85 miles an hour with the officer in pursuit. The chase went through the parking lot of Love’s Truck Stop and onto South Avenue. The rider lost control and laid the bike down and abandoned it near Houghton and Viola. Blaze the K9 quickly caught up to the running man and tackled him. David Sumahit was wanted for a parole violation out of Butte County. He was reportedly in possession of over Two Ounces of Methamphetamine, packaging, scales and brass knuckles. After being treated for his injuries at Saint Elizabeth Hospital, Sumahit was booked into Tehama County Jail on several charges.
