Tehama DA: Red Bluff Police Officers Actions Justified In 2020 Shooting

A Red Bluff Police Sergeant and Corporal have been cleared of fault for the shooting of a man. In October of 2020, 37-year-old Joseph Lloyd Thompson was was walking on Gilmore Road carrying an air rifle that looked very similar to an AR-15 when he was shot after raising the gun toward three officers. He was discharged from the hospital 6 weeks later. He pleaded guilty to resisting arrest and was sentenced to 3 years 8 months in county jail.
