Crews Continue To Cleanup Area Nearly A Month After Fuel Spill

Cleanup is still underway from a fuel spill on Pine Street January 21st. Cleanup of 6,200 gallons of gasoline and diesel continues as storm drains and culverts have been flushed. Shasta County Health and Human Services is still warning the public that swimming and fishing is strongly discouraged in the Sacramento River downriver of the Cypress Avenue Bridge and in the ACID Canal south of the South Street Bridge. People should keep their pets from contacting the water as well. An area of Calaboose Creek off Cypress Avenue will be excavated to remove contamination.
