Supervisors To Discuss Lifting Some COVID-19 Restrictions

There may be some loud but moot arguments about Covid mandates during Tuesday’s Shasta County Board of Supervisors meeting. An agenda item calls for a resolution amending county personnel rules to reflect changes made at the state level concerning mask and vaccine mandates imposed on various county employees. In some cases non-complying employees are reassigned, but if no work-around can be found, employees must be terminated in some cases. The policies have already been discussed with all the unions representing county employees. The county is required by state law to comply with the rules, but it was that very compliance that was cited by proponents of the recent recall of Supervisor Leonard Moty.
