An additional 374 Covid cases were reported for Shasta County Monday. There are 1,178 known active cases in Shasta County, but public health believes the actual number to be much higher. There are 72 patients in the hospital with Covid and 8 in the ICU. Shasta County’s Coronavirus case rate has skyrocketed with the Omicron Variant. Many Shasta County schools are using “group contact tracing”, in order to monitor students have shared air space with a student who tests positive. Students who are exposed continue to attend class and participate in extracurricular activities unless symptoms develop. Every home in the country can get four free test kits mailed to them by simply visiting covidtests.gov. Vaccinations are available for free at many locations.
