Friday was a heavy day for Covid numbers in Shasta County, with another 11 fatalities reported, and an additional 380 cases. There are 1,568 known active cases in Shasta County. There are 89 patients in the hospital with Covid and 11 in the ICU. Shasta County’s Coronavirus case rate has skyrocketed with the Omicron Variant. Public health is encouraging people to upgrade their masks from cloth to the more protective N95, KF94 or KN95. Every home in the country can get four free test kits mailed to them by simply visiting covidtests.gov. Vaccinations are available for free at many locations.
