Authorities Arrest Alleged Hit-&-Run Driver, Seize 29 Guns In Trinity County

An investigation into a hit and run that severely injured a man in Weaverville has led to the arrest of a Junction City couple. On December 12th the victim was struck by a Toyota Tundra pickup while crossing Washington Street just north of Highway 299. The driver did not stop. On Tuesday the CHP with help from Trinity County Sheriff’s Deputies served a search warrant at the Junction City home of 57-year-old Alana Leighton and 51-year old Tim McNeal. A 2010 Toyota Tundra was seized as evidence, as well as 29 guns and a lot of ammunition that neither are allowed to possess because both have prior felony convictions. Alana Leighton is believed to have been the driver. They were both booked into Trinity County Jail. The legality of some of the guns is still under investigation.
