Supply Chain Disruptions Delaying Highway 273 Improvement Project

A road project in South Redding has been delayed by supply issues. The intersection of Highway 273 and Girvan Road has always been troublesome because lowboy flatbed semi trailers have occasionally gotten high centered on the railroad crossing because of the way the road banked sharply upward from the highway. The project has raised the highway to flatten the railroad crossing, as well as shoring up the sidewalks, building a new pedestrian bridge across Clear Creek and make other improvements. The lengthy delay currently being experienced is apparently because some materials have been held up by supply chain disruptions. The materials are expected to arrive in the coming months, but in the meantime drivers will have to put up with the cones and detours.
