CHP: Wrong Way Driver Killed In Fiery Crash On I-5 Near South Bonnyview Road

The CHP says a driver was killed after driving the wrong way on I-5 very early Friday morning and crashing into a big rig. According to the CHP, the unidentified driver of a Lexus drove onto Southbound I-5 heading the wrong direction at the South Bonnyview Road exit. A southbound semi truck driven by a 43-year-old man from Fairfield struck the car, and both cars crashed into the center median and caught fire. Both vehicles were engulfed in flames. The truck driver was able to safely get of the the semi, but the woman driver of the Lexus was declared dead at the scene. The truck driver was taken to Mercy Medical Center with minor injuries. The number one lane will be closed for several hours as crews removed the wreckage.
