Supervisors To Appoint New Chairman of The Board At Tuesday’s Meeting

The choice of who serves as Chairman of the Shasta County Board of Supervisors has historically been a formality of little consequence. However, in the contentious age of Covid over the past year, Joe Chimenti has been in the spotlight quite a bit as he has exerted authority in an effort to restore order and civility to the chambers. On Tuesday the board will choose a new chair. The current Vice Chair is Les Baugh, but since he announced last year that he would not be seeking reelection in June, his presumed succession to the chairmanship is anything but routine.
