Firefighters Rescue Dog From Burning Home In Viola

A dog was rescued from a house fire in Viola on New Years Eve. Cal-Fire/Shasta County Firefighters arrived to find the home about 25% involved in flames. Access was difficult because of snow cover and water supply was limited, so additional 4-wheel-drive fire engines and water tenders had to be called to the scene. More than half of the structure was saved and a dog that was trapped inside was rescued by firefighters. The fire was apparently caused by equipment being used to heat the home.
