149 New COVID-19 Cases Reported Over The New Years Holiday Weeken

COVID-19 cases in Shasta County are trending upward again, so public health has decided to continue providing daily case reports, abandoning their plan to scale back to twice a week. Ten new deaths reported last Tuesday in Shasta County were the only deaths reported in the past seven days. The weekend saw 149 new cases. There are 267 known active cases in Shasta County, 43 are hospitalized, and 13 are in the ICU. The state is requiring masks for all indoor public places, regardless of vaccination status.
