A Redding man was turned in by his mother after a crash that blocked a busy East Redding intersection. Shortly before 7 O’clock Sunday night somebody ran into a traffic signal and sheared off the base at Cypress and Hartnell at the east end of the Cypress Bridge. The signal assembly and pole were blocking the roadway with arcing exposed electric wires. As officers were responding, a woman called 9-1-1 to report that her son, 32-year-old William Christopher had arrived at her home on Bechelli Lane saying he was drunk and had just been involved in a crash. He reportedly had also threatened to kill his mother and other family members. Christopher’s car was found damaged and abandoned on Bechelli Lane. A license plate from the car was left behind at the crash scene. Christopher was booked on several charges.
