5 more deaths by COVID-19 were reported over the weekend by Shasta County Public Health. Ages ranged from their 50s to their 80s. Another 43 new cases were reported. There are 114 known active cases in Shasta County, 35 are hospitalized, and 9 are in the ICU. The county’s transmission rate has dropped significantly. The state is requiring masks for all indoor public places, regardless of vaccination status. Shasta County Public Health recommends that holiday gatherings should be kept small and well ventilated.
