COVID-19 cases seem to have taken a sharp decline in Shasta County, but public health officials say we have yet to experience the brunt of the Thanksgiving get-togethers, and Christmas poses yet more possibilities of spread. The county’s case rate has dropped from “high” to “substantial” for the first time. No new deaths by Covid were reported for the second consecutive day Thursday. Another 31 new cases have been reported. There are 126 known active cases in Shasta County, 29 are hospitalized, and 6 are in the ICU. The state is again requiring masks for indoor public places.
