Early Saturday morning just as bars were about to close, gunfire sent people scrambling from a downtown Redding parking lot. Redding Police at California and Placer heard the shot and saw people running from Foundry Square at 1:41am. A spent shell casing and a number of live rounds were strewn about the lot. Police say there had been a conflict between several people that ended when 22-year-old Solomon Lewis fired a shot in the air, then concealed the Glock 9mm handgun in his car. He admitted to officers that he had the gun in his car but denied firing it. Witnesses, however, identified him as the shooter and the incident was caught on surveillance video. Lewis was arrested for negligent discharge, possession of a concealed loaded gun and public intoxication.
