The water situation in Jones Valley is desperate for many residents, who have suddenly found themselves with no water at all due to a lack of pressure in the system. A handful of customers are fortunate enough to be served by storage tanks that aren’t empty yet, but that will only last a few days. Any water that is coming from a tap in the Jones Valley area needs to be boiled before it’s consumed. A huge and continuous landslide at the road to Mariners Point has taken pipes and pumps with it, crippling the pump station . Work is underway to build a temporary pump station and it’s hoped that reliable clean water delivery can resume by the middle of next week, but the boil water order will continue. Residents are being told to pick up free supplies of bottled water at the Jones Valley Fire Hall, but the hours are apparently limited for that access.
