Woman Accused Of Starting The Fawn Fire To Appear In Court

The woman accused of starting the Fawn Fire will appear in court Tuesday morning. 30-year-old Alexandra Souverneva of Palo Alto is accused of intentionally starting the fire on the evening of September 22nd as she was trying to boil water containing bear urine to make it safe to drink. She said she was hiking to Canada. Her charges include arson to structures and forestland. She faces up to 9 years in prison, but that could increase as more charges are added. On Tuesday she’ll appear for a plea disposition hearing. A preliminary hearing when evidence will be presented is set for Thursday.
