Boaters Rescued After Boat Capsizes On Whiskeytown Lake

Two boaters on Whiskeytown Lake were rescued after their boat capsized leaving one of them stranded on the shore on Monday evening, according to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office. At 1:45AM Tuesday morning deputies found a man walking on Highway 299 near Rock Creek Road. The 47-year-old man told deputies he and his spouse had been boating on the lake, and were returning to the Oak Bottom Marina just before nightfall. He said their boat capsized and that his wife was still stranded on the shore. Park Service Rangers and Cal-Fire were called to assist, and they found the woman on the shore. She was taken for medical treatment after she had been in the water for several hours.
