RPD: Felon Arrested After Assaulting Mother, Challenging Officers

A convicted felon was arrested Sunday morning after reportedly assaulting his mother, according to Redding Police. Officers were called around 9:15AM to a residence in the 6600 block of Southgate Drive by the woman who reported that her son, 37-year-old Joshua Rocha had assaulted her. The woman said that Rocha dragged her through the house by her neck causing unknown injuries. Officers arrived and tried to contact Rocha who was given commands, but apparently failed to comply. Officers attempted to deescalate the situation, but officers say he became aggressive and challenged the officers to fight him. RPD Officers used a less lethal bean bag gun was utilized to safely take Rocha into custody. He was treated at a hospital and booked into the Shasta County Jail on a number of charges.
