Fawn Fire Growth Slows, Damage Assessment Continues

The Fawn Fire only grew by about 20 acres Sunday and is now 50% contained. The fire has burned 8559 acres and Cal-Fire is reporting that 155 structures have been destroyed, and another 22 have been damaged. Cal-Fire damage assessment teams are surveying the burned areas. On Sunday the Sheriff’s Office downgraded an evacuation order to a warning for all areas of Fawndale Road that are accessed from i-5. All other warnings and orders remain in effect as of Monday morning. Cal-Fire says that 3 firefighters have been injured while fighting the fire and 2048 personnel are working the fire. The fire has been burning with moderate to low intensity in ground fuels, according to Cal-Fire. Crews fighting the fire are are expecting cooler weather with a slight chance of showers.
