Some Evacuations Remain As Containment Grows On The Monument Fire

The Monument Fire covers 219,300 acres, and containment has improved to 61%. 50 structures have been destroyed. 6 firefighters have been injured. Structure protection continues in Trinity Village. Evacuations have been reduced to warnings for many areas, but remain in effect for Hobo Gulch and East Fork Road north of Barney Gulch. Traffic on Highway 299 is being escorted through the Monument Fire Zone between Burnt Ranch and Helena by a pilot car every 30 to 45 minute between 7AM and 7PM every day of the week now, and the highway is open without restrictions overnight.
