Great strides have been made in defeating the Dixie Fire, now 94% contained after burning 963,300 acres. Crews are concentrating on eliminating hot spots around Old Station, Janesville, Milford, and Herlong, as well as Lake Davis and Grizzly Creek. Fire is still active in the Devil’s Punchbowl. Strong southeast winds are expected Wednesday that could cause trouble. A firefighter on the Dixie Fire died of an illness and 3 others have been injured. More than 1,300 structures have been destroyed by the Dixie Fire. PG&E equipment is believed to be responsible for starting the fire two months ago.
