Year Over Unemployment Numbers Shows Significant Improvement

The number of people with jobs in Shasta County has improved tremendously from a year ago. The unemployment rate was 6.5% last month, down a half percent from July, but much better than the 8.7% from August of last year. In August of 2019, the jobless rate was only 4.4%, the lowest rate since employment has been measured the way it is now. The unemployment rate for Tehama County was 6.9% last month, it was 5.3% in Trinity County and 7.2% in Siskiyou County. The California rate improved to 7.5% from last year’s 12.3%. It was 5.3% nationwide.
