RPD: Man Arrested For DUI After Road Rage Incident

A Redding man is accused of a road rage incident while heavily intoxicated. Police say 21-year-old Elijah Richards left the Lowe’s parking lot on East Cypress Avenue shortly after 7 O’clock Friday night in his Dodge Caliber, following another car while driving recklessly and screaming obscenities. The other driver pulled over to the side of the road near the roundabout at Victor and Marlene hoping to avoid the enraged man following him, but Richards allegedly rammed the victim’s car, causing minor damage. When officers arrived they determined Richards was drunk and arrested him for DUI, driving on a suspended license and assault with a deadly weapon. While Richards was being booked into jail he allegedly threatened to harm officers and their families, for which he faces additional charges.
