Growth Slows On The Monument Fire, Containment Remains At 43%

The Monument Fire has burned 213,320 acres and containment is 43%. 50 structures have been destroyed. 6 firefighters have been injured. Evacuations including all areas along Denny Road from Zeigler Point to the Trinity Alps Wilderness, all areas along Hyampom Road from Grassy Flat to St. John Road and east of Drinkwater Gulch to Cedar Gulch, Tule Creek Road at Jesse Road south through Indian Valley, as well as Helena/East Fork, Hobo Gulch, Big Mountain Road and Big French Creek Road. Hyampom Road between Lucky Jeep Trail and Cedar Gulch has reopened, but the south side of that stretch remains under evacuation orders. An evacuation warning remains in effect for many areas. Crews have made good progress west of Hayfork, in the New River Drainage and along the East Fork North Fork Trinity River. Fire remains very active along Hyampom Road east of Pattison Ridge, where large boulders and burning trees frequently fall onto the roadway.
