Returning Residents Told To Be Ready For Monument Fire

Many residents have been allowed to return, though more than 10,000 homes are still threatened by the Monument Fire, which has burned more than 154,300 acres and is 20% contained. 2 firefighters have been injured. 21 structures, along with 29 minor structures, have been destroyed. Most, but not all, residents of Junction City, Big Flat, Cedar Flat, Burnt Ranch, Big Bar and Del Loma are being allowed to return home, though they’re still under evacuation warnings. Fire activity has increased on the eastern edge of Hayfork. Some evacuation orders remain in effect for Hayfork north of Highway 3, Sky Ranch Road and Dutch Creek. Highway 299 is closed from Junction City to Burnt Ranch.
