Dixie Fire Challenged on Multiple Fronts

Winds Tuesday and overnight cleared some of the smoke layer from the Dixie Fire and increased fire activity. The Dixie has burned more than 735,000 acres, now with 45% containment. Crews have been concentrating on protecting Taylorsville, running hose line to every house in the community. Quincy and Greenhorn have been preparing in case the fire keeps moving to the south. Well over 700 homes are confirmed destroyed, along with hundreds of commercial and other structures. 12,000 remain threatened. 3 firefighters have been injured. Around 5,800 personnel are working the Dixie Fire. It started in the Feather River Canyon July 13th, apparently from a PG&E equipment failure.
