McFarland Fire Grows To Nearly 116,000 Acres

Fire crews are engaged in structure protection in the Platina area as the McFarland Fire, on the Shasta/Trinity County line south of Hayfork, continues to grow to the east, as well as into the Yolla Bolla Wilderness to the south. It was most active Thursday in Beegum Gorge. It’s now more than 116,000 acres, with 52% containment. All of Platina has been ordered to evacuate, as well as Tehama County residents north of Petty John Road and west of Highway 36 and Canon Road to the Tehama/Trinity County line. The northwest perimeter is in mop-up and patrol status. Highway 36 is closed from Bowman Road to Highway 3.
