Dixie Fire Burns Into Southeast Shasta County

The Dixie Fire has burned into the southeast corner of Shasta County, and more evacuations have been ordered for Tehama County. The Dixie now covers more than 569,700 acres. Containment remains at 31%. Close to 700 homes are confirmed destroyed, along with hundreds of commercial and other structures. All Butte County evacuation orders, and some in Plumas County, have been reduced to warnings, but vast areas remain under mandatory evacuation. Tehama County evacuation orders include Childs Meadows and part of the Mill Creek area, along with the Wilson Lake area. Incident command has been moved to Susanville. 3 firefighters have been injured. There are more than 6,500 personnel working the Dixie Fire. It started in the Feather River Canyon July 13th, apparently from a PG&E equipment failure.
